Coach Ryan Coleman began coaching the throws at North in 2009. He has been involved in track and field for the large majority of his life. He got his start in the throws at Lyons Township H.S. where he competed for the Lyons 3 years and unfortanutely broke his hand his senoir year and as a result he was unable to compete.
He went on to be a Viking at Augustana College and compete for 4 years. During that time he was 6-time All-Conference, with his all time best marks being 52'7'' in the weight throw and 162'8'' in the hammer, both of these marks place him in the 10 ten in school history. He was team captian in 2008, during which time the Vikings won the CCIW conference and finished first in the power ranks for NCAA DIII.
Coach Coleman enjoys working with the throwers and racing the sprinters at practice!
Coach Coleman has moved on to be a Social Studies Teacher, Football and Track Coach at another school! We were happy to have him and also look forward to seeing him at future state meets coaching his athletes!
