Saturday, April 14 2012 - West Aurora

The Trojans varsity team turned in an all around team effort to take 2nd place at the John Bell Invitational this weekend.  North outdid some of the best programs in the state on their way to this performance, beating such teams as Lyons Township, Naperville Central, and West Aurora among others.

On the track, some standout performances included:

·         Matt Pospisil, in his first meet back in month, placed 4th and 5th respectively in the 200 and 100  Dashes.

·         Kevin Profit led the whole race and held on to win the 1600m run in a time of 4:25.43.

·         The 1600m Relay of Ryan Keogal, Nate Sloan, Kevin Profit, and Jordan Munar took home the victory.  North ran in a battle for the lead, until senior Jordan Munar opened it up in the final 200 meters of the race, to finish with an impressive time of 3:23.61.

·         Ben Eaton turned in his normal steady performance, with a 4th place finish in the 3200 and time of 9:40.35.

In the field, the Trojans were equally impressive, with standout performances in multiple events:

·         North Senior, Riley McGinnis, turned in a solid days work with a 5th place in the triple jump, going 41’3’’,  and a 3rd place in the High Jump, going 5’11’’.

·         Alex Meier added multiple strong performances, finishing 4th in the long jump with a mark of 20’’9’.  Alex was only getting warmed up however, as he took home the Triple Jump Championship with a mark of 42’’1’.  Alex also added a strong leg to a 3rd place finishing 400m relay team.

·         PR’s in the pole vault continue to fall, as Paul Paskevicius took home a 4th place finish in the vault and mark of 13’3’’.

·         Jack Czyzwicz also continued the trend of knocking down Vaulting PR’s, with his performance of 12’3’’, good for a 5th place finish.

It was a good day Trojans of Downers Grove North, as they continue to push towards the quickly approaching conference meet.  They continue to get better with each meet, and this performance at the John Bell invitational was no exception.  Nice Job Men!
