State Meet 2012 - Another School Record Falls

Wednesday, May 30 2012 - IHSA 3A Boys State Track & Field Finals

Another DGN Record Falls at State the State Meet.

It has been a terrific year for the Downers North Boys Track team.  Downers North sent 4 athletes and 4 events to the state meet this year.  The 4x2 and 4x1 was made up of Matt Pospisil, Jazz Charrier, Nate Sloan and Jordan Munar.  Munar also qualified in the individual 100 and 200.  Jazz Charrier did a great job filling in for Team Captain Ryan Koegel in the 4x1 and 4x2.  Koegel was not able to compete in the meet but it was his toughness that was the trademark of this team all year long and was contagious throughout the team.  The boys competed well and made their school proud with their performance at the state meet.

Results:

4x1:  The Trojans, made up of Jazz Charrier, Matt Pospisil, Nate Sloan, and Jordan Munar, took down another school record, finishing 13th with a time of 42.41.

200:  Jordan Munar made it to finals easily, and then came back the next day for finals, where he took home a 6th place medal.

4x2:  The 4x2, of Matt Pospisil, Jazz Charrier, Nate Sloan, and Jordan Munar, ran a gutsy race, but ended up finishing just short of an all state performance, in 10th place.  Their time of 1:28.01 would of made them All State in most years, but this was not an ordinary year as the competition was abnormally tough.

It was fitting to break another record at the last meet of the year for the Trojans, who re-wrote the record boards this year.  After the dust has settled, North has set new school records in the indoor 55, indoor 200, indoor 400, indoor 4x2, outdoor 100, outdoor 200, outdoor 4x2, and now again for the outdoor 4x1.  And in every instance, it was earned through hard work and determination.  Congrats on a great year gentlemen!  You deserve it!
