Trojans win varsity Silver title!

Saturday, October 15 2016

The Downers Grove North boys cross country team won the West Suburban Conference Silver Division title Saturday, Oct. 15, at Lyons Township's south campus
This is the fourth time the Trojans have ever won a WSC/WSC Silver championship.
In a field with four of the state’s top 10 ranked teams, Downers Grove North edged Lyons Township 48-52 for the title with York (88) and Hinsdale Central (93) third and fourth, followed by Oak Park-River Forest (115) and Glenbard West (116).
Senior Alec Danner (7th, 15:17:7 for 3.0 miles), juniors Jacob Ridderhoff (8th, 15:22.5), senior Andrew Marek (10th, 15:31.6), junior Nick Chudzik (11th, 15:33.3) and sophomore Matt Moravec (12th, 15:34.8) earned all-conference medalist honors with top-16 finishes and junior Ryan Birkmeier was 17th (15:44.0), .4 from 16th but also right in front of the No. 5 finisher for LT, which went 1-2-15-16-18.
The Trojans' previous conference titles were 1949 for the WSC and 1987 and 2000, when the Trojans shared the overall title with York back as dual meet results also contributed to the final overall standings. This is the second straight year in which only the conference meet determines the final standings.
