In the meeting of the state's top-two ranked teams, the Trojans edged defending Class 3A state champion Neuqua Valley 56-57. Downers North finished 5-8-9-13-21 versus the Wildcats' 2-6-14-25-20. If there had been a sixth-runner tiebreaker, the Trojans also would have won that by one place (23-24).
