Men's Cross Country 14th In Regional PollMonday, October 29 2012 - NCAA Midwest Regional Championship
NEW ORLEANS - Eastern Illinois men's cross country moved up one spot in this week's USTFCCCA Regional poll following a strong second place showing at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships. EIU returns to action on Nov. 9 at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Springfield, Mo.
The Panthers moved up to No. 14 in the Midwest poll, the program's highest regional ranking since the 2005 season. At this past weekend's OVC meet EIU placed two runners, Pablo Ramirez and Bryce Basting, on the first team marking the first time the program had done that since 2005. The Panthers had three total All-OVC runners with Danny Delaney earning second team honors.
Oklahoma State was first in this week's regional poll followed by Oklahoma, Tulsa, Illinois and Missouri in the top five. Kansas was sixth followed by Iowa State, Minnesota, Southern Illinois and Loyola-Chicago in the top ten. South Dakota State was 11th with Wichita State, Iowa, Eastern Illinois and South Dakota rounding out the ranked teams. Four the nation's top 25 teams competed in the Midwest Region led by No. 1 Oklahoma State.
