Glenbard South Girls Track Cruises to MSC Title

ELMWOOD PARK — Glenbard South's girls track team continued its domination in the Metro Suburban Conference, scoring 205 points to easily outdistance the rest of the field in the league meet May 3. The Raiders placed first in 11 events, which included all four relays. In the field events, Sam Howard was a double champion, winning the discus with a mark of 122-07 and the shot put with a distance of 37-09.50. Tierra Wilson was second in both those events. Adding runner-up finishes were Nicole Jordan (high jump) and Theresa Scheet (pole vault). Diane Lipa placed first in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:43.87 with teammate Erica Mote coming in second. Bailey Reese and Katelyn Hill finished one-two in the 100 hurdles and then flip-flopped in the 300 hurdles. Kasia Gniatczyk won the 400 and Monica Byrne captured first in the 1,600. Hill was also second in the 100, Becca Sippel placed second in the 800 and Elizabeth Niedert came in second in the 1,600.  The 4 x 100 grouping of Taylor Ray, Gniatczyk, Ivana Markovic and Hill cruised to a victory in 51.18. The 4 x 200 quartet of Taylor Blohm Bivins, Markovic, Jasmine Curry and Taylor Ray placed first in 1:51.05. The 4 x 400 team of Blohm Bivins, Curry, Becca Everhart and Gniatczyk prevailed in 4:17.24 and the 4 x 800 team of Anniken Mossefin, Sippel, Jayme Schlenker and Shannon Cadagin won in 10:05.53. Glenbard South will return to the track on Friday when it hosts a 15-team Class 2A sectional.
