DGN at indoor Silver Meet

Downers Grove North junior Tariun Triplett won the 55-meter dash and led off the winning 800 relay at the West Suburban Conference Silver Division indoor track and field meet Friday, March 18, at York.
The 800 relay of Triplett, junior Andrew Marszewski, senior Anthony Giordano and junior Joe Keys won in 1:34.95 fully automatic time -- .67 ahead of Glenbard West, which competed in the earlier heat.
Triplett won the 55 in 6.51 seconds fully automatic time -- .01 ahead of Hinsdale Central senior Kareem Muhammad – after a preliminary-best 6.50.
The Trojans were third (80 points), one point behind second-place Lyons Township. Oak Park-River Forest won its second straight indoor title with 118 points. Hinsdale Central (77.5) was a close fourth, followed by Glenbard West (60.5), York (60) and Proviso West (50).
Keys was second in the 55 high hurdles (8.05) and 55 low hurdles (7.69) to Hinsdale Central senior Jared Neumann (7.99 and 7.61, respectively).
Senior Zack Hogan was second in long jump (20-9) to Proviso West junior JaShaun Steward (22-6) and fourth in triple jump (42-5). The 20-9 on Hogan’s final long jump followed a 20-0 and gave him second over LT junior Robert Hatch, who ended with a 20-6.
The 3,200 relay of sophomore Brendan Lockerby, juniors Robert Falconer and Alec Danner and senior Robby Prescott (8:11.22) was second to LT (8:06.64), conceding to the Lions after anchor Vince Zona opened a sizeable lead.
Sophomore Michael Taylor (400 in 52.57), Triplett (200 in 23.48) and the 1,600 relay of Taylor, Marszewski and juniors Jordan Wilde and Jack Barkei (3:33.71) were third. Barkei was fourth in the 600 (1:28.82) and Prescott was fifth in the 1,600 (4:24.94).
Taylor was .41 from first behind a junior and senior, Triplett was .48 from first behind two seniors and the 1,600 relay was .56 from second. Prescott was .60 from fourth but 1.47 seconds from first.

Sophomore level

Sophomore Jacob Ridderhoff won the 3,200-meter run to lead Downers North at the sophomore indoor Silver Meet.
The Trojans were seventh (36 points) behind Oak Park-River Forest (148.5), Lyons Township (79), Hinsdale Central (78.33), Glenbard West (73.83), Proviso West (63) and York (45.33).
Ridderhoff won the 3,200 in 9:56.55 – .85 ahead of Hinsdale Central sophomore Sean O’Connell, the only other runner to break 10:00. Sophomore Nick Chudzik was fourth in the race (10:01.94), 1.79 seconds from third.
The Trojans also had dual success in pole vault with sophomores Matt Powell (9 feet) and Joe Bunales (8-0) taking third and fourth.
Freshman Matt Moravec was fourth in the 1,600 (4:44.89) – the only freshman among the top six.  
Freshman Luke Rhode was fifth in the 55 low hurdles (8.52) and seventh in the 55 high hurdles (9.51).
Sophomore Tyler Mertes took sixth in the 600 (1:35.42) out of the first of three heats.
The 3,200 relay of Moravec, Mertes, freshman Jack Roberts and sophomore Sam McCool was fourth (8:51.68) and the all-freshman 1,600 relay of Syed Ahmad, Rocco Marrandino, Matthew Rios and Joseph Nelson was sixth (4:07.06).
