Sunday, September 11 2011 - Lake Park InviteThe weather cooperated this week and all three races went off in a successful fashion. The Open race started the day in a positive manner. The open racers were in the race from the beginning and they managed to place 3rd as a team with 67 points. The top performers included Max Dipple (2nd), Ian Correl (14th), Matt Wagner (16th), Jackson Stucker (17th), Zach Smith (19th), Andrew Noll (22nd), and Ethan Chapin (30th). With Max Dipple finishing strong out front the next 8 trojan runners finished within a minute of each other.
The first Varsity race of the year for the Trojans found them finishing 6th place in a field of 20 with a total of 155 points. Your top finishers included Kevin Proffitt (9th) , Ben Eaton (14th) , and Zach Smith (24th). Solid race efforts were turned in by Ryan Zemel (improved by 1:12 from 2010), Jacob Carter and James Diamond. This is a young inexperienced group and it was nice to get experience of a varsity race for 6 of our 8 runners under our belts. This group knows that we have more in the tank and they are looking forward to Peoria next week.
The Frosh group continued their strong showing at Lake Park this week without two of their top 8 runners. The group was paced by Jared Spilky on their way to a 2nd place finish with 81 points. The Trojans actually tied with Wheeling and the tie breaker went to the 6th runner, and fortunately for us that runner was Ryan Clevenger who finished 24th compared to Wheeling's 68th place 6th runner. This talented frosh group had a split of only 33 seconds from the 1st to the 6th runner and pack running will always lead to success! The top seven runner for the F/S team this week was Jared Spilky, Jack Ronan, Jack Diamond, Marc Mathy, Joe Carter, Ryan Clevenger, and Dylan Murphy.
